Panel 2: Teaching the Next Generation of Social Entrepreneurs, Center for Transformative Action (CRESP) and Hillel Campus Entrepreneurs Initiative |
As universities strive to address society’s pressing social, environmental, and economic challenges, we must create hands-on educational experiences that help students become self-aware moral leaders with the audacity to propose big ideas, the humility to remain connected to their communities and the capacity to mobilize their social networks. Drawing on two examples of social entrepreneurship education at Cornell--an award winning undergraduate syllabus and a religiously-informed extra-curricular program--this session will give participants an understanding of how empathy, reflection, relationship-building, peer-to-peer engagement, creativity, and leadership skills are integrated into the educational experience and applied to the entrepreneurial pursuit of resolving social problems. This panel of students and instructors showcases the transformative nature of this engaged pedagogy. |
