Competitions

NY Business Plan Competition (NYBPC)

NYBC is one of the largest collegiate business plan competitions in the world.  The competition is open to both undergraduate and graduate students who are enrolled in one of the partner colleges and universities. Applications were due March 17th.

Teams compete head-to-head against winners from ten major regions of New York: Capital Region, Central New York, North Country, Mohawk Valley, Finger Lakes, Southern Tier, Western New York, Mid-Hudson, New Your City and Long Island.   Cornell competes within the Southern Tier region for which the 2019 semifinal round will be conducted at Binghamton University.  Winners of the regional semifinal competition will proceed to the 26 April statewide final competition in Albany.

Cornell undergraduate students from all disciplines are encouraged to participate. An idea may be submitted by an individual or a  team consisting of multiple people, but all team members must be current Cornell undergraduate students. Apply to either the traditional general track or to the new “World on the Move” track.    Prizes and other details.

BenDaniel Venture Challenge 2019, conducted April 11th

  • First Place with $25,000 award – One Three Biotech
  • Second Place with $5,000 award – EINO
  • Third Place with $1,000 award – Xallent

This is one of Cornell University’s most prestigious business plan competition open to teams with New York State or Cornell University affiliation. BenDaniel Venture Challenge is sponsored by  Big Red Ventures (BRV), Johnson’s early-stage venture capital fund operated entirely by a team of MBA

Cornell Engineering Innovation Award Competition  – spring semester

Innovation teams may include a broad range of students from across the entire university and from all levels – undergraduate to the Ph.D. candidate. However, as an undergraduate-focused competition, undergraduate students from the College of Engineering must constitute a majority of each participating team. Hospitality Business Plan Competition – spring semester

The Hospitality Business Plan Competition provides an experiential learning opportunity to rising entrepreneurs looking to make their mark on the hospitality industry. The competition kicks off at the start of the academic year and culminates in early spring with the submission of final business plans and group presentations. The winners are announced during Hotel Ezra Cornell. Cash prizes over $35,000 are awarded to the top three teams! Open to the public.
