NYBC is one of the largest collegiate business plan competitions in the world. The competition is open to both undergraduate and graduate students who are enrolled in one of the partner colleges and universities.
Teams compete head-to-head against winners from ten major regions of New York: Capital Region, Central New York, North Country, Mohawk Valley, Finger Lakes, Southern Tier, Western New York, Mid-Hudson, New Your City and Long Island. Cornell competes within the Southern Tier region. Winners of the regional semifinal competition will proceed to the statewide final competition in Albany.
Since 2010, more than 5,000 students have participated in the NYBPC, more than 150 student-led ventures have been started, and the NYBPC has seeded over $1M to companies that have gone on to raise over $60M in additional funding. Cornell undergraduate students from all disciplines are encouraged to participate. An idea may be submitted by an individual or a team consisting of multiple people, but all team members must be current Cornell undergraduate students. More details on prizes and how to apply can be found here.

Innovation teams may include a broad range of students from across the entire university and from all levels – undergraduate to the Ph.D. candidate. However, as an undergraduate-focused competition, undergraduate students from the College of Engineering must constitute a majority of each participating team. The Hospitality Business Plan Competition provides an experiential learning opportunity to rising entrepreneurs looking to make their mark on the hospitality industry. The competition kicks off at the start of the academic year and culminates in early spring with the submission of final business plans and group presentations.
