Charlie joined USVP as an Entrepreneur-in-Residence in January 2008, after more than 20 years of experience spanning the fields of minicomputer, PC peripheral, EDA, semiconductor IP, microprocessor design, and ASIC. Most recently, Charlie spent four years with Faraday Technology, a Taiwan-headquartered supplier of custom-designed chips. While at Faraday, Charlie expanded their international business in the U.S., Europe, and Japan. Prior to Faraday, Charlie was with Lexra, a CPU IP company, where he helped enable more than 40 licensees reach market with eight different processors, all surpassing the initial time-to-market and performance goals. Charlie has also worked at Aspec Technology, Edge Computer, IBM, Iomega, Viewlogic, and Zycad. "It's exciting to be at USVP, working with world-class entrepreneurs and highly respected investment professionals, to help bring about the next breakthrough in the semiconductor industry", says Charlie. "I'm particularly interested in exploring possible dislocations caused by the complex & sometimes divergent forces in the electronics business."
Charlie graduated from Cornell University with a BS in Mechanical Engineering & Computer Science. He is fluent in both English and Mandarin Chinese.
