Parker, Jeffrey P.

Jeff has an extensive history of success as an entrepreneur, CEO and investor in financial information companies over the past 30 years.  Most recently, he was the co-founder and CEO of CCBN, a web-based information services company serving both the corporate and investment communities.  He is also the founder and managing director of Private Equity Investments, a venture capital firm focused on start-up and early-stage companies, as well as Managing Partner of The Parker Family Limited Partnership. 

During his business career, in addition to CCBN, Jeff has founded a number of other successful companies, including Technical Data Corporation, Business Research Corporation, and First Call.  The Thomson Corporation acquired all of those businesses, and Jeff later served as the CEO of Thomson Financial, the company’s financial services division.

An active speaker on entrepreneurship, Jeff is also an advisor and board member to many early-stage financial services companies.  He is a Venture Partner with GrandBanks Capital in Boston; Chairman of the Board of Toronto-based FirstCoverage Corporation and a Director of Firmex, also in Toronto; Chairman of the Board of MainstreamData in Salt Lake City; and a board member of The Toaster Oven in San Francisco.  Jeff also serves on the board of Summitas, an online wealth management venture in Boston and New York.

Jeff is a graduate of Cornell University, where he earned a Bachelor of Engineering degree in 1965, a Master of Engineering in 1966, and an MBA in 1970.  In 1995, he was appointed to the University’s Board of Trustees, and in 1996 helped create the Parker Center for Investment Research at the Johnson Graduate School of Management.  Jeff is the current Chair of the Parker Center Advisory Council as well as the Chair of the Johnson School’s Advisory Council.  He was named Cornell’s Entrepreneur of the Year in 2001, and inducted into the Johnson School’s Hall of Honor that same year. He also is a past Chair of the Advisory Council of Entrepreneurship@Cornell, the university-wide entrepreneurship program.
