Biography

Siddhartha Das is a General Partner in the VenturEast Proactive Fund since January 2006. Prior to joining VenturEast, Siddhartha spent 19 years at Intel Corporation in senior technical and management roles. He was part of the venture capital group at Intel for 6 years, including 3 years in Intel Capital USA where he led equity investments in semiconductor and emerging technologies, and was involved in strategic roadmap planning, M&A strategies, business alliances, and licensing deals.

He was Country Manager for Intel Capital-South Asia from 2000-2003. He led a team of investment professionals with more than 15 investments in telecom, consumer Internet and software, and established Intel Capital as the “leading technology investor” in India. The portfolio included several high profile start-ups including Tejas Networks, Sasken Communication, Indiainfoline, Sharekhan and RSystems, and some successful growth stage companies like Subex & Futuresoft.

He has also been Director of Public Affairs & Strategy at Intel India, responsible for strategic market development, government relations and educational & community outreach programs. Siddhartha started out his career at Intel USA in R&D and product development, and managed groups which delivered on technologies for microprocessors. He has collaborated with academia and consortia, including MIT Lincoln Labs, Lawrence Livermore National Labs and Sandia National Labs. He has been granted 5 United States patents for his pioneering work at Intel on microprocessor and optical technologies.

Education

He holds a Bachelor of Technology degree with distinction from the premier Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi and a PhD in Engineering from the Cornell University in New York.
