Biography

Alonso is Managing Director of Gerbera Capital and Tower Capital, LLC (LTC), a specialized investment platform in the investment of private equity and venture capital in Mexico over the last 10 years. Prior to the launching of the fund, Alonso served as the CFO of Grupo Diestra, a private company with interests in the garment, tourism and real estate industries. Alonso has invested in several businesses over the last 8 years, including Metroscubicos.com, the leading Internet portal in Mexico for the real estate industry. Alonso served as CEO since the company's founding in 1999 until 2002 and as Chairman of the Board of Directors until the company was acquired by Grupo Editorial Expansión (a subsidiary of Time Warner) in 2007. In 2002, he co-founded Rocher Holdings. Alonso was also an Associate with Bassini Playfair + Associates (a former division of CSFB Private Equity) in New York, a PE fund for Latin America. He was also an analyst with Ferco Partners in 1991, the first LBO fund that specialized in Mexico. He has been a Member of the Board of Directors of Banco Bital and Grupo Financiero Bital and since 2004 has been a member of the Regional Council and other Councils BBVA Bancomer. Alonso has been a Professor of Securities Law at the Universidad Iberoamericana (UIA) where he received a degree in Law. He has also been a Professor of Economics at the Universidad Anahuac del Sur.

Education

Alonso studied Economics at ITAM and participated in the GMP program at the Hotel School of Cornell University. In 1999, he received an MBA from the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College.
