Mr. James L. Gilbert is a Senior Industry Executive at Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe. Mr. Gilbert joined the firm in 2010. He focuses on health-care investments. Previously he served as an Executive Vice President of Strategy & Business Development at Boston Scientific Corporation since 2008. Mr. Gilbert served as Group President of Cardiovascular of Boston Scientific Corp., and its Senior Vice President since December 20, 2004. Previously, Mr. Gilbert worked on a contractor basis as Assistant to the President of Boston Scientific Corp., from January 2004 to December 2004. Mr. Gilbert was responsible for a broad portfolio, providing strategic support on key projects and growth initiatives. He also manages Corporate E-Marketing, Corporate Marketing Science, Corporate Sales and National Accounts, and Reimbursement and Outcomes Planning. He served as Senior Vice President and led Boston Scientific's E-Marketing, Marketing Science, Corporate Sales and National Accounts and Reimbursement and Outcomes Planning functions. Mr. Gilbert is a veteran of 23 years at Bain and Company, where he served as a Director and a Partner, and was the Managing Partner of Bain's Global Healthcare Practice from 1990 to 2003. As a leading member of Global Strategy Practice at Bain, Mr. Gilbert was a published author and speaker on both medical technology/pharmaceutical industry strategic trends and issues and, “profit pool- based” and “strategic principled-based” strategy implementation. He was also an elected member and chairman of all three of Bain’s partner leadership committees, including the Partner Compensation and Promotion Committee, Partner Management Committee and Partner Nominating and Governance Committee.

Education

Mr. Gilbert earned an M.B.A. with high distinction from Harvard Business School and graduated from Cornell University School of Engineering where he earned a B.S. in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research with high distinction.
