Background

Mr. Douglas W. Clayton, Doug, is the Founder, Chief Executive Officer, and Managing Partner at Leopard Capital LP. Mr. Clayton oversees Leopard Capital’s investment activities and business expansion in pre-emerging economies. He was employed at Leopard Capital Sri Lanka. Prior to founding the firm in 2007, Mr. Clayton was the Chief Investment Officer and the Director at Knight Asia Group, where he helped managed Knight Thai Strategic Investments. In 2001, he was recruited to serve as the Chief Executive at Indosuez WI Carr Securities in Singapore and Malaysia offices. Mr. Clayton was the Chief Executive of the Thailand office and then of the Latin America regional division at CLSA Securities. He served as the Chief Executive of CLSA Securities in Thailand from 1994 to 1997, and led the office to the top ranking in the Asiamoney Brokers Poll. Mr. Clayton was promoted to head CLSA’s newly acquired Latin America regional broking division, and rebuilt and managed CLSA’s offices in New York, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Venezuela. He returned to Thailand in 1999 and founded and managed Abacus Equity Partners (Thailand). There he structured and placed several notable transactions. In 1988, Mr. Clayton became the Head of Research at Kerry Securities, in 1989 where he was one of the first investment analysts on the ground. He was also an Institutional Sales Manager at Sun Hung Kai Securities in 1986. Mr. Clayton serves as an Advisor to H.E. Ming Bankosal, Director-General of Cambodia’s Securities & Exchange Commission and as a Member of the Center for Khmer Studies.

Education

Mr. Clayton holds an M.M. from Thailand’s Chulalongkorn University and a B.A. in History from Cornell University.
